Board of Missions
The Board of Missions was created in 2005, conceptualized at our church-wide ‘Embrace the Mission’ goals retreat. The purpose of the board is to oversee and give direction to the congregation’s mission activities.
We strive to generate in the entire congregation a Christian concern regarding the lost and the Christian’s responsibility as a witness-bearer. We also encourage members of the congregation to witness to one another as well as to the unsaved.
As a board, we
made the decision to focus on three key geographical areas:
* Global
* Regional
* Local
Current
missions:
Global: We are supporting the Baer Hospital in Chirala, India. Funding,
medical supplies and equipment are just some of the ways we are helping
this hospital reopen. For more details, we have a Baer Hospital tri-fold
brochure in the narthex – please help yourself.
Regional: With the recent hurricanes, we are doing ongoing relief mission trips in conjunction with Lutheran Disaster Response. We also take donations of food/care items to transport to the gulf.
Local: We support the Georgia Tech House to Campus Ministries by coordinating regular work days in which a team of volunteers work on the upkeep of the house. Painting, yard work, maintenance, etc. are all part of this ongoing mission.
These are just some of the Missions we have been supporting. We maintain our focus by following our 1, 3 and 5-year goals. As additional needs are brought to our attention, they are taken into consideration by the board.
